Kit of the Day #13: Mexico — El Tri at Home (Sort Of)

The wait for the fifth game continues

Mexico have been to seven straight round-of-16 stages and lost every single one of them since 1994. The 2026 home tournament is the moment to finally break that. They sit in Group A with South Korea, South Africa and a playoff winner — absolutely winnable.

The design

Classic green Adidas home shirt with red detailing and clean white trim, plus the iconic Aztec-inspired pattern weave running across the chest. The 2026 version is a touch more saturated than recent releases. Paired with white shorts. One of the great traditional World Cup kits.

Who to watch

Santiago Gimenez the goalscorer who finally took the number 9 shirt off Raul Jimenez. Edson Alvarez the midfield destroyer. Johan Vazquez at the back. Add Hirving Lozano (if fit) and Cesar Montes — squad is younger and more European-based than the 2022 version.

Why you should care

The Mexico green is one of the most photographed kits at any World Cup because El Tri travel like nobody else. Estadio Azteca hosting the opener means this kit will be everywhere on global TV from day one. Buy it.
