Kit of the Day #22: Norway — Haaland’s First World Cup, Finally

Erling Haaland at a World Cup. The phrase still feels slightly fictional. Norway are back after 28 years and they have the most exciting attacking duo in the tournament. Day 22 of Kit of the Day.

The wait for Haaland on the World Cup stage is over

Norway’s last World Cup was France 1998. Twenty-eight years on, they have qualified — with the best striker on the planet, the best Norwegian playmaker since Tore Andre Flo, and a squad that finally lives up to the talent at the top.

The design

Rich red Nike home shirt with navy and white trim built around the classic Nordic palette. The crest is redesigned and sits slightly higher than traditional placement. Paired with white shorts. Clean, athletic, immediately recognisable.

Who to watch

Erling Haaland obviously — the most talked-about footballer of his generation finally on the World Cup stage. Martin Odegaard the captain and creative force. Alexander Sorloth the third forward who would walk into half the attacks at the tournament. Insane top-end talent.

Why you should care

Group I with France, Senegal and a playoff winner is the toughest in the tournament. Norway-France could be one of the games of the group stage. A Haaland #9 name set gives the shirt an obvious player story, but FKB does not claim a future sales rank.
