Kit of the Day #15: Portugal — Red and Green and Genuinely Great

Portugal post-Ronaldo (probably). Bruno, Leao, Bernardo, Vitinha. The red-and-green Puma kit is one of the cleanest of the cycle. Day 15 of Kit of the Day.

A new era for one of football’s great kit traditions

Whether or not Ronaldo is in the squad, this is a generational shift for Portugal. Bruno Fernandes is captain, Bernardo Silva is the elder statesman at 31, and the next generation of Vitinha, Joao Neves and Rafael Leao is taking over. Group K with Colombia, Uzbekistan and a playoff winner is winnable.

The design

Classic Portugal red Puma home shirt with green trim and a premium modern cut. The collar features green-and-yellow piping echoing the flag, and the crest is slightly larger than recent releases. One of the most consistently beautiful kits in international football, and the 2026 version is no exception.

Who to watch

Bruno Fernandes the captain and creative engine. Rafael Leao on the left wing terrifying full-backs. Bernardo Silva pulling strings everywhere. Add Vitinha, Joao Neves, and a back line of Pepe (potentially) and Ruben Dias. Squad depth is genuinely absurd.

Why you should care

The Portugal red-and-green colourway is one of the great football design heritages. The 2026 release builds on it without being reverential. Buy this kit even if you do not particularly support Portugal — it earns the wardrobe slot.
