Kit of the Day #43: New Zealand — All Whites Back on Football’s Biggest Stage

New Zealand are back after 16 years. The All Whites bring a kit with proper heritage weight. Day 43 of Kit of the Day looks at the shirt, the squad, and what to expect in Group G.

Sixteen years is a long time

New Zealand’s last World Cup was 2010 — they finished the group stage unbeaten and still went out, which only happens at New Zealand World Cups. They’re back in 2026 in Group G with Iran, Belgium and Egypt.

The design

The All Whites stay true to the name — white home shirt, black shorts, white socks. The 2026 Nike version adds a subtle fern-leaf pattern woven into the shoulders and a slightly sharper collar. If minimalism is your thing, this is one of the most disciplined kits of the tournament.

Who to watch

Chris Wood still leading the line at 33, Elijah Just on the wing, Alex Paulsen in goal. The spine of the team is experienced and the attacking additions are all European-league quality.

Why you should care

Plain white kits can have unusual visual longevity: Nigeria 1994, England 1966 and West Germany 1990 remain useful reference points. The NZ 2026 release should be judged on its design and story, not a promised collector status in 20 years.
